31-08-2009 Leiden Queen Beatrix, with rector magnificus prof. mr. Van der Heijden, attended the opening of the main building, het Academiegebouw, at the Rapenburg in Leiden.
The Queen unveiled a bronze plaque commemorating the university's founding in 1575 by Prince William of Orange, founder of the Dutch royal family.
